The GOP cannot and should not try to out-Dem the Dems. The last election should have been proof enough. If the Repubs can put forth a strong "Contract with America" and present new ,energetic candidates with some fire in them, the contrast with the socialists will be clear and present.

My biggest concern is if Conservative and "Moderate" Republicans becomes split by a third Party -ala Ross Perot-and hand over 4 more years to the Dems.

What will you be discussing with Jim Babka this evening and are you taking calls?

I have horror stories from the trenches as a small Ag lobbyist fighting for quality local food only to encounter legislation which never gets read and voile...it becomes law or a regulation!

It's a thumb's up or thumb's down before Committee, oftentimes behind closed doors.

Pastor Pete:
first of all let me say that I am a long time listener, both since you have rejoined KVI and when you were here before. I enjoy your show and listen when ever I can.
Earlier this week you broadcast a segment where you're guest was a gentleman who had retired in Mexico and was talking about how to make things like that work including marketing your skills on the global market. He mentioned a website. I was looking for links on your website but did not see any. Can you help me find this information ? the name of his consulting firm, his name, any information your remember?

Keep up the good work! Remember that sacred cows make the best burgers!

Thanks,

Glaciers are growing in the United States - Open letter to Senator John McCain
10 Thursday, 16 July 2009 18:54
Robert Felix
The news media has done a good job of hiding it, so most people have no idea that glaciers are growing in the United States.

Here’s an open letter to Senator John McCain that I just posted on my website www.iceagenow.com

Open letter to Senator John McCain
Are you aware that glaciers are growing in the United States?

Dear Senator McCain,

As a concerned citizen of the United States, I urge you to vote NO on the upcoming Cap- and-Trade (Control-and-Tax) bill, legislation purportedly designed to fight “global warming.”

What global warming?

Senator McCain, are you aware that glaciers are growing in the United States?

Yes, glaciers are growing in the United States.

The Nisqually Glacier on Mt. Rainier is growing. The Emmons Glacier on Mt. Rainier is growing. Crater Glacier on Mt. Saint Helens is growing. (According to the US Forest Service, Crater Glacier is now larger than it was before the 1980 eruption.) Glaciers on Glacier Peak in northern Washington are growing.

My fear is that that there is a giant cover up going on, especially given the fact that glaciers are also growing on California’s Mt. Shasta, and that glaciers are growing in Alaska for the first time in 250 years. In May, Alaska’s Hubbard Glacier was advancing at the rate of seven feet per day - more than half-a-mile per year. And in Icy Bay, at least three glaciers have advanced a third of a mile in one year.

Senator McCain, I wish you would ask the US Forest Service or the US Geological Survey (USGS) for a list of glaciers in the United States, and ask them to tell you – honestly - which ones are growing. I have a feeling that there are more growing glaciers than any of us have been told.

Every time I read about another growing glacier, I’m told that it's “the only glacier in the world that is bucking the global warming trend.”

But that’s not true.

Perito Moreno Glacier, the largest glacier in Argentina, is growing. Pio XI Glacier, the largest glacier in Chile, is growing. Glaciers are growing on Mt. Logan, the tallest mountain in Canada. Glaciers are growing on Mt. Blanc, the tallest mountain in France.

Glaciers (230 of them) are growing in the Western Himalayas. Glaciers are growing in Norway. Recently, all 50 glaciers in New Zealand were growing. Glaciers in Greenland are growing thicker. And contrary to what we’ve being told, the Antarctic Ice Sheet is growing, not shrinking.

More than 90 percent of the world’s glaciers are growing, but all that we hear about are the ones that are shrinking.

Not only are glaciers growing around the world, temperatures are dropping precipitously.

Are you aware that low temperature records were set in 46 states during the month of June? According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), some 538 low temperature records were set in June alone.

This temperature drop is not restricted to the United States.

According to Dr. Roy Spencer, climatologist and former NASA scientist, satellite data for June shows that the earth has cooled an astounding .74°F since former Vice President Al Gore released his propaganda piece "An Inconvenient Truth" in 2006.

Again, I urge you to vote NO on any Control-and-Tax bill.

As author of the book Not by Fire but by Ice, and publisher of www.iceagenow.com, I can verify the facts that I am presenting to you today.

Respectfully,
Robert W. Felix

Much like when Congress asked the Auto execs "How they flew to the meeting..Should we ask the "Congress" how much their co-pay and deductibles are for their health insurance..
Hard to feel a sting of change when your co-pay is ZERO and your deductible is ZERO..Much like number of elected "Congress-ists" that have read the House and Senate's bills.. "Zero" "The more things that CHANGE ...The more THEY stay the Same.

I would move to Canada, but it looks like Canada is moving to me..

Just my 2 cents..From the Land of the "Emerald City-Seattle"..Where else but Oz .. could a plastic bag cost 20 cents..

Peter:

I tried calling in but the line was busy (Or I used the wrong number).

Jesus said the 2nd greatest command was to love our neighbor as our self. That would mean that we are responsible to care for others. But remember, it was the Good Samaritan, not the Good Bureaucrat that Jesus gave as His example. We as individuals are called to charity. But doing charity is not paying taxes where the giver sees it as an obligation and the receiver sees it as an entitlement.

I saw a quote from Rush that fit this, "Liberals use the power of government to take money from Americans who work and give it to those who don't , and get credit for compassion."

By the way, charity starts at home. I think the President would do well to care for his own brother before he looks for specks in our eyes. Also, the term "my brother's keeper" was used only by Cain when he flippantly responded to a question from God.
teacher credentials

Jeff Palmberg
I just finished listening to your conversation about WA state teaching credentials and the restrictions that keep people from moving easily into the classroom after a previous career.

I admit that I haven't read into the details of the study your guest brought up which stated that there was no difference between student achievement in a class with a certified teacher and a non-certified one, but I find that very hard to believe. I know that my own experience taking classes at the college level from professors who, while experts in their area, obviously had no instruction as to the "how-to" of teaching this information, leads me to believe that students are much better off with teachers who have been taught how to teach.

Now there may be a great deal of tweaking needed for our current credentialing process, but I want my children to have teachers who know what their doing in the classroom (as well as in their area of expertise).

Thanks for your show which brings up great things to think about.

Constitutionality of Healthcare - Religious Healthcare
17 Tuesday, 06 October 2009 04:25
Morris Buel
Peter,

I heard you talking about the "flexible" constitution today, (probably as a counterpoint) but thought I'd add my opinion on the subject.

1) We should immediately repeal medicare, medicaid and social security and seek private options to fulfill the needs of the few that rely upon it for their personal well being.

2) A flexible document is meaningless, and may as well be burned. If we don't grant the words meaning, we may as well say they mean anything we want at that moment in time.

Per the religious social justice vis a vie Healthcare:

1) the Judeo-Christian God calls for us to PERSONALLY help the poor, not for the government to do it for us vis a vie taking tax money from the rich and giving it to the non-productive. We can also see from other failed utopias that Socialism always make the gap between the rich and the poor even greater. It also creates greater nihilism, where people care less about helping others, because the "government" will do it for them.

2) Marxist philosophy (and that's what we are really talking about here) is a violation of the tenth commandment. "Though shall not covet". How can the politician sell the "public option", without creating a class of "haves" and "have nots"? How can they push it forward without making the "have nots" covet what the "haves" 'have'? All social justice philosophy only works because they create a need for covetous behavior.

3) The religious social justice marxist is the worst ,because not only are they violating the tenth commandment but also the third commandment.

"Though shall not take the lord's name in vain". Most people INCORRECTLY interepret this as meaing to take God's name in a "swear". But the correct interpretation, is to use God's name to promote your "vanity". For your own self promotion.

How much more self conceited can you get than the religious marxist who tells us we must do this in the name of God's morality?

Hi Peter... Glad to hear all the full circle news of you doing well in radioland! I made a CD recently - finally... and thinking, while listening, how you should have a copy. After all you gave me yours and a grilled by Weissenheimerbach mug when I hooked you up with my pals at Pacific Studios [Mark Simmons and Jim Blade] after you so graciously bought me that nice lunch at Newport Bay [are they still open?] when you also graciously responded to my having sent you a cheezy cassette of my rendition of "What If Al [Gore] Was One of Us?" -- what a god he thinks him is now, huh? Who'd uh thunk... uh, you and I probably did. Yeah.. well I have this CD I think you'll like with pertinent stuff [blues, easy, & rock n roll] like gas prices, fools rules, etc. I think you should have. Do you have a specific address you'd like me to mail one to?

I made this with a great musician who does bass, drums, sax, and keyboards as well as his amazing jazz guitarist guitaring on it - He flat rates for $150 per song. I am still working at and mastering a lot of stuff and putting together deals at Pacific Studios on 24th & Pacific - Tacoma A new one out in March I'd like to send you as well. Chao for now. email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it niktesla.com web site [my band site] email for one ON ME - FREE this time I'll do something for you. Dave

Working in the USA vs begging off the streets
26 Saturday, 23 January 2010 15:45
Ron
Have you heard? you can make 50k a year begging off the streets. Yeah, it is insulting that hard working people in the USA are not even paid what a bum can earn in the streets these days. that is what is wrong in the USA today thanks to illegals and off shoring. Americans can not earn enough to live in their own country. If workers pay kept passe with CEO pay in the last 50 years we'd all earn minimum of 1.5 million a year, 40% of what a CEO made 50 years ago is what workers got, so that would be about 1.5 million today.
